pretty! i always struggle with how to texture and highlight black hair. i'd like to be able to do it like this!

This was drawn from a B/W photo of Sophia Loren in Painter 9. Working from photos directly with ink and brush or brush marker is a good way to practice drawing with ink as opposed to just following the pencil drawing.

Coolio! La Loren is a fine subject indeed.
The cheek bones, lips and chin really sell the likeness. I agree with Ms. blackbird about the hair. The loosey goosey linework
is a terrific contrast to the more controlled lines of the face. Plus, it gives her that oh-so-sexy tussled look.
