Of course, this could also be seen as man reaching out of the morass and toward salvation.
Either way it is a darn fine illustration. Nice design and coloration. It reminds me of that (Russian? Polish?) sculptor who's name I have no hope of spelling correctly.
It could also be a fake hand attached to turtle's back by some prankster.
Come to think of it, it would make an interesting sculpture?reflecting pool for a park.
I think I know what sculptor your thinking of but also won't attempt the name. Donyonowsky? Ifurgotnik?
