UNCLE CREEPY
Back in the 70's we all had a creepy uncle who would tell us scary stories. He had a cousin named Eerie and they had a gorgeous friend named Vampirella who was really out of this world.
Warren Magazines were a nice step up out of superhero comics and into adolescence. The more mature and risque stories and art provided a great outlet for some of the best comic artist in the business to tell more mature stories. There was a kind of carnival fun quality to them. They didn't take themselves too seriously.

MORE SKETCHES
These sketches were done in marker at the same time as the previous sketches. The color was added later. The pictures weren't intended to relate to one another, but, especially now that they're colored, they look almost like a comic page. I've been thinking of a narration to add. I'll post it if it works.

SKETCHES WITH COLOR
I sketched these in marker, then later colored in Painter while I watched an interview with author Richard Matheson online. Matheson's the author of "I Am Legend", "The Incredible Shrinking Man", "Somewhere In Time", some great episodes of the "Twilight Zone", adapted the "Night Stalker" for television and has written many other T.V. shows and books.

Space Jam
This started from a sketch I did when I was listening to a John Coltrane CD. He and his band were jamming and it kept building up into the stratosphere. I've done three versions of this in color. The first was in watercolor and the other two in the program Freehand. here are the other two:

Color Sketch
I keep trying to simply add some color to my sketchbook drawings and post them. Hours later I find myself still tinkering and experimenting with them. Although I enjoy and probably gain something from the process, I sometimes wonder if I should just post them in pencil. The name of this blog is Leadheaded after all.
On the other hand, these could just be referred to as digital studies for actual paintings.
This one is odd in that I originally imagined it to be more blue. Somehow I ended up coloring it in warm browns and reds! I bet if I do paint it, I'll color it completely different again. I have a tendency to take off for places without knowing how to get there.
REVISION (8:15 PM)
(Then again blue/green's nice.)

BACK FROM THE DEAD!
This blog was temporarily held in detention and subjected to "Unique Interrogation Methods" by bloggers spam detection robots in order to determine whether it was a spam blog. Apparently the robots determined the nonsense I was spewing was just the usual blogger nonsense and not the kind spambots harvest from other blogs and vomit up. Or they decided they had sufficiently put the fear of robot power into me in order to stop me from posting bad things about robots. Whatever the F- I'm back (and as you can see above) happy as ever.

IF-GEEKY
This is for Illustration Friday and began as a marker sketch on the edge of a manuscript I was illustrating. It was then colored in Photoshop.
I imagine this guy sitting in a dull meeting about "pro-actively maximizing profit potential while minimizing manufacturing and personnel costs while at the same time harnessing the synergy of our core assets". Meanwhile he drifts into a Walter Mitty-like daydream.
